Squaring off in the big circle

- With weight assessments spoiling some of last week's MCAL matches, more wrestlers look to compete at their preferred weight this Thursday. The league's opening tri-meets were riddled with forfeits and only a handful of matches were even contested in many of the weight classes. Yet early predictions of continued Terra Linda success bore out after the Trojans made short work of a young but talented Redwood squad, and Drake.

- Despite two convincing victories to open its MCAL schedule, the news wasn't all positive for defending league champs Terra Linda. Senior co-team captain Andre Castrillo suffered a dislocated shoulder during his match last Thursday and is expected to miss significant time. The Trojans will travel to Novato on Thursday where they will look to keep their league record unblemished when they take on the Hornets and Tam. The Hornets' Courtney Madson (108) and Marie McDonald (189) are each coming off first-place finishes at the Napa Valley Classic last weekend.

- Redwood has enjoyed a boost from sophomore Dylan Morris, who's outstanding performance against TL and Drake last Thursday preceded his 160-pound title at the Viking Invitational at Montgomery High in Santa Rosa last weekend. Morris and the Giants will play host to Justin-Siena and San Rafael this week when Morris' teammate, Chelsea Walker, could be wrestling for a berth in the girls NorCal regional scheduled for this weekend.

- After wrestling without James and Michael Sitzmann in last week's meets, Marin Catholic should be back to full strength when they travel to San Marin to square off with the Mustangs and Drake.
