Supporters of Women's College Wrestling:
This year, for the first time there will be an NAIA College Women's National
Championships for college women in North America. It will be a freestyle
tournament held on Feb 28-Mar 1 in Havre, MT.
Mike Jones of Simon Fraser University, mjones@sfu.ca , is organizing the
competition, and I have put together a web page that has all of the
information on the tournament to help him publicize the event. The info can
be found on our Menlo College site at http://www.menlowrestlingclub.com
under "women's tournaments." You can get to the page by clicking on the
Women's Tournaments link on the left sidebar, or by clicking on the NAIA
banner at the bottom of the page.
On another note, there will be a freestyle division for college women at the
USGWA nationals this year along with a college folkstyle division. I am
really excited about this addition because the high school girls that attend
the USGWA nationals will get to see what freestyle wrestling is all about,
and it will hopefully increase the popularity of freestyle wrestling. Let's
try to get a great showing from all of our college freestyle teams at this
event!!
Yours in wrestling,Danielle Hobeika
