The campus at John F. Kennedy High is still abuzz from a fantastic football season. It was the best in school history as the Titans (6-6 overall, 4-2 Mission Valley Athletic League) earned their first victory in North Coast Section play three weeks ago.

And now the wrestling team is trying to feed off that.

In the first invitational of the year, Kennedy finished second in the John Swett Invitational over the weekend. The Titans suffered a 52-46 loss to Mt. Diablo in the championship match.

"This year started off great with the football program and now we're trying to use that to tap into another sport and keep it going," Kennedy's first-year coach Kim Rodrigues said.

To put it in perspective, the Titans have been simply awful the past five seasons. They have gone 1-29 in MVAL action and are thirsting for the days of Mark Chartier and Andrew Miranda — athletes who won MVAL titles in 2002 and proved that Kennedy could be a force in wrestling.
