Joey Miller is a wrestler. But her web page does more than just show off pictures of trophies. This twelve-year old girls page answers many questions people have about wrestling. The first page on her list is entitled Why wrestle? Its a good question, especially if you arent all too familiar with the sport. Once you are in the page the question is beautifully answered, with the main points laid out for you. If you had any reservations about wrestling before, you wont after that. The nest page is entitled Why freestyle? This is aimed toward the wrestler, or potential wrestler. It discusses the different styles of wrestling, along with information about freestyle.
The Next page down is the History of Womens Wrestling. This is a wonderful editorial about the increase in popularity of womens wrestling. The discrimination shown towards women in the sport is discussed, and women and girls are encouraged to give the sport a chance. Doug Reese, Wrestling Head Coach for the University of Minnesota-Morris, writes this. Following the article, on a separate page, is the history of wrestling in general. It is interesting to read the differences of wrestling as a competitive sport when it began, as to what it is now.
There also pages on nutrition, Title IX, a debate on girls wrestling, and wrestling trivia and facts. There is a good collection of wrestling clipart and images, including backgrounds, buttons, animated gifs, and more. There are pictures of women wrestlers, and there is a place where female wrestlers can submit their biography to be added to the page. You can send great looking e-cards featuring wrestlers of both genders. Some of the cards are funny, while others are serious, or just show wrestlers. I particularly enjoyed the one that said Real Women Wrestle.
On this site you can also read about Joey herself. She is a champion wrestler, and she has been doing it since she was five. There are pictures, a biography, you can read what others have written about her, and you can even see pictures from the story Inside Edition wrote about her.
Some of this page seems to be written by Joeys parent, and some by Joey herself. It is a wonderfully laid out page, with much information. There arent many sites about women wrestlers, and this is by far the best one I have ever seen.
